Site:
Awe4One .com
Why AWE4ONE.com? I'd be the first to admit that the Internet is chock full of "I love comics sites". My goal is not to focus on one publisher or character but comic collecting as a whole. I ultimately intend to talk about comic issues that interest me or even the views of those that visit this site. CrimeBoss' Gallery
What follows is a few of my favorite crime comic books. In selecting these, I just flipped through my collection and started picking out books. Reasons for inclusion vary. Some simply have great eye appeal. Others are included strictly due to their "historical significance," or simply because a book is very rare and I'm darned proud to have found it. GO HERE

Lambiek Comiclopedia: Underground Comix
The late 1960s saw the emergence of underground comics, a new wave of humorous, hippie-inspired comic books that dealt with social and political subjects like sex, drugs, rock music and anti-war protest. For this reason, these new comics became known as "comix" to set them apart from mainstream comics and to emphasize the "x" for x-rated... GO HERE

The Moore Collection of Underground comics
It all started with my parents making me burn my comic books. In 1954 Reader's Digest printed an article by Dr. Frederick Wertham which claimed that reading comic books resulted in "juvenile delinquency." My parents saw the article and called me and my comic books into the living room for an inquisition... GO HERE

Visual Guide to Underground Comix Reprints
For some comix, the printing can be more important than condition. Newsstand comics are a delivery system for ads, so they have a one month shelf-life. (Most Comix were also printed only once.) But since ComiX were marketed as a novelty item for head shops, some were reprinted for as long as they would sell. Early issues of Zap and Freak Brothers stayed 'in print' over 30 years! (can you trust a comic over 30?) GO HERE

Wikipedia: Underground Comix
